Who We Are

Your Hosts

Hi! We’re Kyle and Desiree — your hosts at Big Fun Stays TX. We’re proud parents of two young kids and passionate travelers who love creating memories with family and friends. Some of our best moments have come from adventures together, and we’ve hand-selected, designed, and cared for each of our properties to help you and your loved ones make those same lasting memories.

 

We’re local to Austin (where we live just minutes from our two city homes) and we spend lots of time vacationing at Canyon Lake. Because we don’t love the impersonal feel of big hotels or corporately managed rentals, our mission is to provide a personal, welcoming experience. We’re always available to our guests — as much or as little as you’d like — so you can enjoy your stay your way.

 

As a young family, we’ve designed our properties with both families and groups of friends in mind. Over the years, we’ve hosted hundreds of guests, and we’re constantly upgrading and improving our homes so each stay is even better than the last.

Check in is 4 PM and check out is 11 AM.
Do you allow early check in?
We do our best to accommodate early check-ins whenever possible! Availability depends on whether the property is booked the night before and how much time our cleaning team needs to prepare for your stay. The best way to find out is to reach out a couple of days before your arrival, and we’ll let you know what options we can offer.
Is parking available on-site?
Yes, we offer on-site parking facilities, making it convenient and hassle-free for you to park your vehicle and have peace of mind throughout your vacation. No need to worry about finding a parking spot!

Our rental properties are equipped with a wide range of amenities to enhance your stay. We had an amazing stay! Our host was incredibly kind, responsive, and helpful. He provided a great list of local recommendations and even came right over when we couldn't figure out the hot tub. The home is one of the most thoughtfully equipped Airbnbs we've stayed in, with upgraded electronics, a fun margarita machine, and a fully stocked kitchen. We were a party of nine and had everything we needed. The kids loved the pool, sauna, and outdoor activities, while the adults enjoyed family game nights with Uno, Connect Four, Jenga, Monopoly, Life, and more. The lake was nearby, and everything else was just a short drive away. Every detail made our stay easy and enjoyable. We highly recommend this property and will definitely refer friends and family. We hosted a bachelor party here and could not have asked for a better experience. The place was spotless from the moment we arrived — clearly well-maintained and thoughtfully prepared for guests. This Airbnb is great for a large group! We stayed for a bachelorette and it was perfect. I also really appreciate the willingness of Kyle to take a bachelorette and his check out is a breeze no excessive cleaning before you leave! The back (main) house is updated and the front bungalow is an older building but has new furnishings so you barely tell. it was raining most of our trip so we didn't get to use the outdoor amenities but they looked great!

We also loved the coffee / taco place we could walk to at the end of the street. The backyard is amazing and definitely the highlight of this house. Our family of four and my mother all visited Austin for a vacation. We found the house to be incredibly conveniently located, and had lots of great fun activities during our downtime at the house. I can't say enough great things about the hosts or the home. This is an amazing place with 3 floors, LOTS of places to sleep comfortably, and everything you could need for a fun stay. The pool, hot tub, ping pong, corn hole, hammock, sauna, gaming systems, foosball, are all exactly as pictured. There are also lots of extras in the home like coffee, extra floaties for the pool, and plenty of towels. There are thermostats on every floor to make sure it stays comfortable. I was very sad to leave. The hosts were very responsive. They have a mudroom for you to put luggage in before it's time to check in, which was perfect for us since we had some people arriving early and didnt want to drag their baggage to lunch. The cleaning lady Lori was so sweet and made sure to show us many of the extras when we arrived to drop off the luggage. An all around amazing experience. 10 stars!

My friends and I got away for a guys weekend in Austin and we couldn’t have lucked out any better with landing this home for our 5 day 4 night stay. Plenty of living spaces, beds, clean all around and the hot tub, pool and sauna were a plus!! The host, Kyle, was always responsive and made this stay so easy for us. We had a group of 16 people for a bachelor party, and this was a perfect property for hosting a group this size! Plenty of beds, large gathering places, a fun and big backyard. We hired a hibachi chef and had the dinner in the backyard, which the space and patio furniture provided the best space. Kyle was amazing! He accommodated our early check in on Thanksgiving Day + accommodated our late check out and was super nice all the way around! The place was clean and in order - there were plenty of beds for all of our guests and the backyard hosted a lot of laughter! The small pool was heated which was perfect at the end of November and the fire pit was propane and easy to handle! We had a great time at this Airbnb. The location is excellent and very close to major attractions in Austin. It only took a few minutes to get to Lady Bird Lake for hiking, and Sixth Street is just a little farther away. The backyard is beautiful, but it does back up to a busy road and a railroad track. This can be a little distracting at first, but it wasn’t terrible and we got used to it. Parking is on a steep slope, so you need to be very careful when backing out of the driveway. The first floor includes the living area, dining area, and kitchen. The kitchen is well stocked, and everything worked properly. Even with a large group going in and out, the space was easy to keep clean. The first floor opens onto the backyard, which provides a lot of space. The pool and hot tub are nice and heat up quickly. There is also a working grill, an outdoor kitchen with bar stools, and a ping pong table. On the second floor, there are two generously sized bedrooms. The third floor has one large

Eight women stayed in Kyle’s house and we enjoyed the pool, hot tub and location. Kyle is a great host and was flexible when I suddenly realized I had booked the wrong dates. This property was remarkable. Looks just like the photos - everything you could need / want for a top notch weekend in Austin. I organized 11 guys for my brother’s bachelor party snd every single person had a blast thanks to this Airbnb. The backyard is amazing - we grilled, hot tubbed, went in the heated pool, watched football outback and played outdoor games. The inside is spacious, stocked with everything you could need and sleeps comfortably. The neighborhood is beautiful and worth some morning walks to explore. Downtown and many bars / restaurants all within ~ 10 min uber distance and ~ 15-20 mins to Lake Austin for a nice boat day. 15-20 min drive to UT stadium with traffic. Kyle is an outstanding host. We had nine guys stay in the house to celebrate a bachelor party. It was a very comfortable stay. The house is spacious and beautiful. The backyard is the gem of this location. The pool was clean and the grill worked perfectly! The neighborhood was very quiet and it's only a 10 min drive from bars and restaurants. Kyle is very friendly and communicative. Any questions we had, he answered them in a timely manner. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who's interested.

Every trip we plan to cook at the house and there is never what we need as far as pots / pans / etc. Kyle’s place had everything from blenders 2 crock pots! They also had seasonings / left overs from previous guest that were still good to use and unopened - which I LOVE! People haven’t done that since covid and it’s such a great resource! Location was perfect - close to the bars and river! Also, had a Great Lake view with a cute little pool and hot tub. We loved the porch! 1 of the best air bnb’s I’ve ever stayed in! Dryer was handy as well for our wet clothes! Loved the game selection as well! Actually left 1 behind in donation!

It was a very nice house with a very nice view. It had a lot of room and some cool features to come with it. It is at a super convenient location right on Lake Canyon, and really close to the Guadeloupe River where we went tubing. The owner was very friendly, understanding, and helpful. We enjoyed the tacos from Veracruz in Little Fields, walkable from the property. The previous comments mentioned the noise so we were not surprised. FYI there are many trains that run through the night, we got used to it, but if you’re a light sleeper you may want to take that into consideration. April is hit or miss with weather so we were grateful to have a heated pool at no extra cost (many other properties have a cost). My children swam comfortably and we enjoyed the hot tub. Overall a good stay.

We went for a family trip to celebrate our mothers 60th birthday, the photos do not do it justice. My family loved and I loved the home. It was easy to find with Google maps and close to the lake, we do recommend going through dock ramp otherwise the walk is very difficult for the really young ones and the older ones. There are lots of deer throughout the neighborhood so drive cautiously but other than that the home was better than we anticipated everyone had a great time We played boardgames and did puzzles during our down time We were worried about sleeping accommodations but there were more beds then we even needed haha we had no problems at all with the home only thing there was is the stove top has no dial details on them so we had to figure out the layout and heating elements but I brought it to kyles attention and he stated that it would be looked into it, the home had cookware and coffee pots, waffle maker, toaster and toaster oven, margarita machine and crockpot.

This was such a peaceful place. A couple of notes: the cleaners could do better. One comfortable has an odd stain on it. Dirty laundry was left in the washer. A few dishes had dried food on them. Also, Im pretty sure the games and puzzles were all missing several pieces and we love to play family games. Our family was pretty let down at the lake level with no water in front of the house as advertised. We made do with it and walked to the boat ramp next door. My kida loved feeding the deer and playing foosball and swimming. Overall we had a really great time.

NO WATER. NOT WATERFRONT. We as family choose this location for the water front ease with boat ramp next door (bought a boat with us)& easy activities for kids. Once we got over that, the house does have a hot tub, cocktail pool, games, fire ring & great outdoor area. Plenty of room. We ajusted and had a great time. Went to river a couple days, next boat ramp was about 20 min away. Boat ramp #2closed in August 2023 due to water levels. There is no water out back as discribed. The trek down to the water by way of back yard is do-able, but steep and rocky. The trek to water by boat ramp next door is about 5 min also slightly steep but a less rocky walk. The water is full of trees and hidden tree stumps. We asked for extra blankets they were dirty, found past guest shoes under bed. Kyle, was a great host he was responsive, he can not control water levels. He even came to fix 2x to resolve an issue for us. Pray for rain.

Kyle is probably the most responsive Airbnb host I've had. He was reachable by text at any time, which is a good feeling and very helpful. The space had plenty of space for our group, it more than accommodated all of our needs. It was perfect. There was a decent amount of parking on the premises for the area, too! I'd would highly recommend!

My only concern about our stay was the 9 pm quiet time for the neighbors. We are not loud at all, but when you get 9 people together, well, that can be loud. I was just concerned that we were being too loud just visiting in the pool, at the grill, etc. Otherwise, everything was perfect and clean, and we also left it that way. I was thankful everyone else knew how to use the technology of the iPad just because I am not great at working all those things🤣. Oh, the ceiling fan in the third floor with the three beds does not work, but thankfully, there was a fan in one of the closets we were able to use in place of that so that everyone upstairs was cool enough at night because there was a heat index of 116° the first full day we were there😯. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to enjoy their stay in Austin!! It iis just as it is pictured and described! ❤️

Getting into the house was super simple, just a keypad on the door. When we arrived. All the beds were ready to go, with towels for everyone. The bathrooms were clean, and worked fine. The house was fantastic, plenty of room for our group of 11. The backyard is the best part of the house, with a heated pool and hot tub. We spent most of our time out there. The area around the house is a typical neighborhood, we felt safe the whole time. It's about a 12 minute Uber to 6th street which was super convenient. There's a liquor store and gas station a half a mile away, which was a quick walk for supplies.

TV screens were upstairs and downstairs and downstairs hosted a foosball table. The two houses were perfect for our family. My wife and I and my mother stayed in the bungalow. My daughter, husband and two kids (2, 4) stayed upstairs in the back house and my two nieces stayed on the main floor in the back house. The back house dining area was perfect for our Thanksgiving dinner. The back house living room area was great for TV watching, games and puzzles. Kyle was very responsive to a minor issue with the heat. Sadly, it was a bit chilly in Austin when we visited, which was not necessarily normal for this time of year. Lots of clutter behind outside bar which hopefully owner can clean up to make.presentation a little nicer. . Hot tub was nice. Kayaks had no plugs and filled with water, so bring your own water toys. Overall we didn't love it but it serves as a nice homebase. Cooking wasn't easy since the pans and Pots were all scratched. I have a thing about scratched Teflon but maybe it wouldn't bother others. It is a nice affordable option for a large group. Kids loved the foosball and the upstairs was comfortable to.hang out. Lake is very low so it's not visible from the property. Boat ramp nearby was nice to swim and kayak from. Overall we had a nice stay. Kyle was very responsive and helpful. A little dated but we are probably.more picky than most. I recommend highly for large groups.

Our family stayed at this house for four days. We absolutely had an amazing time. We loved the house! It was perfect for our family! There is ample parking. The best thing is it is right around the corner from a boat ramp that is no longer usable due to the low water level. However, it is very usable for a swimming spot! We stayed out all day and would just go back and forth to the house when needed. We highly recommend his place! We will definitely be booking again ☀️

Traveled with a group of guys to ATX for our buddies Bachelor Party and Kyle’s place was awesome! The outdoor pool area was perfect. There were outdoor speakers and an outdoor TV perfect for music and sports while swimming and grilling. The kitchen and interior is well put together and offers plenty of space for big groups. It’s in a very nice, quiet neighborhood, but don’t let that scare you away - we were still able to have a great time without upsetting the neighbors. A highway runs behind the house but there is a tall sound barrier wall to help with road noise so it didn’t bother us at all. I’d highly recommend staying here if you want a spacious house with a nice pool/spa and outdoor area. It was only a 10 min drive to Downtown so it’s in a convenient location as well.

This is our second time at this lake house and as much as we love the house (the property is beautiful and has everything you need). The main reason we went back this year was for the lake, this second time we were so unhappy with the water, it was extremely low it almost looked like an abandoned place nothing like last year. We understand that this is out of the host's hands but we would have appreciated a heads-up or that there was at least some sort of disclaimer on the website about this, because the lake view took us all by surprise. I know we didn't ask anything before booking, but since we’ve been there before and we didn't know this was a problem at this location we didn’t ask. You might want to ask the host before booking how the water level is in the lake so you don't get disappointed.

Centrally located to drive in from San Antonio or Austin it was the perfect place to meet. The kitchen is well stocked with all of the pots and pans you need. Great space to host a large dinner with a big table and additional seating at the kitchen counter. The floor plan is set up perfect for a group with bedrooms downstairs and easy access outside.
